Experimental diabetes research into insulin and metabolic therapies
Centre for Diabetes is an Ulster University research centre in Coleraine investigating the molecular mechanisms of diabetes and emerging treatment approaches.
Its research includes pancreatic beta-cell dysfunction, insulin secretion, glycation, glucose-regulating peptides and experimental antidiabetic compounds. The group combines molecular biology, cell models, peptide chemistry and metabolic studies.
The centre publishes peer-reviewed research, trains postgraduate scientists and pursues collaborative technology transfer. It is a university research unit, not a separately incorporated company or commercial clinic.
