Autonomous laboratory platforms for microgravity biotechnology research

Frontier Space develops autonomous laboratory and bioreactor platforms for biotechnology research in microgravity. Its SpaceLab system is designed to support cell culture, protein crystallisation and microfluidic experiments in orbit.

The company builds custom experimental hardware and provides payload integration and in-space R&D services for academic and commercial researchers. A Cranfield University spin-out, Frontier Space moved its UK laboratory and integration operations to Nottingham Trent University's Medical Technologies Innovation Facility in 2026.
