Synthetic chemical receptor R&D for implantable glucose biosensors
Lifecare Chemistry Ltd is a UK R&D subsidiary of Norwegian medical sensor company Lifecare ASA, established to develop and own proprietary analyte-specific synthetic receptors for use in Lifecare's implantable continuous glucose monitoring technology.
Working in collaboration with researchers at the University of Bath, the company applies boronic acid-based supramolecular chemistry to engineer glucose-selective receptor molecules that drive osmotic pressure changes within a miniaturised sensor, with scope to extend detection to additional metabolic analytes.
