Medicines Discovery Catapult (MDC) is an independent, not-for-profit national innovation centre that supports UK medicines discovery organisations across the full drug discovery pipeline.
MDC provides access to specialist laboratory technologies, computational and AI-driven tools, translational R&D expertise, and collaborative research partnerships.
It works with SMEs, biotechs, academics, and charities to de-risk drug discovery projects, validate novel technologies, and strengthen the commercial and scientific case for clinical progression.

Medicines Discovery Catapult Signs Three-Year Alpha Isotope Supply Deal with Thor Medical
Medicines Discovery Catapult has signed a three-year agreement with Thor Medical for the supply of radium-224 and lead-212 from Thor's AlphaOne facility. The isotopes will support preclinical targeted alpha therapy programmes run by MDC and the radiopharmaceutical developers it works with.
Medicines Discovery Catapult Appoints Dr Mike Strange as CEO
Medicines Discovery Catapult has appointed Dr Mike Strange as Chief Executive Officer, confirming him in the role after serving as Interim CEO since February 2026. Strange joined MDC as its first Managing Director in 2025, having previously led a £100 million global health programme at LifeArc and spent more than two decades at GSK.
