Plant-derived PLA materials for high-performance and compostable plastics
Floreon is an industrial biotechnology and materials company developing high-performance plastics based on renewable polylactic acid (PLA).
Its proprietary polymer formulations modify plant-derived PLA for improved toughness, heat resistance and processability. Commercial grades include flame-retardant Therma-Tech, durable Dura-Tech and industrially compostable Bio-Tech.
Developed through a collaboration with the University of Sheffield, the materials are designed for conventional plastics manufacturing processes, with applications in electronics, consumer products and packaging.
