National capability in grassland and plant breeding science for sustainability
IBERS is a research institute at Aberystwyth University focused on sustainable food, feed and plant based industrial resources.
Drawing on a century of plant breeding expertise, scientists develop resilient varieties of grasses, oats and other crops to address food security, dietary health and climate change.
IBERS operates a national plant phenomics centre, a biorefining facility converting organic material into fuels and materials, and a major seed bank, alongside extensive research farms supporting practical agricultural science.
