Phage-based blood test for tuberculosis and mycobacterial disease
PBD Biotech is a diagnostics company that develops phage-based blood and milk tests for detecting active mycobacterial infections, including bovine tuberculosis, Johne's disease and human tuberculosis.
Its proprietary technology uses bacteriophages to selectively infect live mycobacteria, enabling rapid, accurate detection that distinguishes active infection from vaccination status.
Spun out from the University of Nottingham, the company's tests are used commercially in cattle diagnostics, with human TB screening applications in ongoing development and international validation.
