Engineering biology commercialisation and biofoundry research support

SynbiCITE is an engineering biology innovation centre hosted by Imperial College London, supporting the translation of synthetic biology research into commercial applications.

It connects researchers, start-ups and industry through accelerator programmes, technical expertise and access to the London Biofoundry, which provides automated DNA design, construction and testing capabilities.

In 2026 it launched an EPSRC-backed proof-of-concept funding programme combining early experimental validation with extended product development support for promising engineering biology projects.
