Fusion protein therapy for the neurological effects of rare disease
Actigen is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing biological medicines for rare diseases.
Its lead programme is a fusion protein for mucopolysaccharidosis II, or Hunter syndrome, which links a replacement enzyme to an antibody fragment so that it can cross the blood-brain barrier.
Current enzyme replacement therapy does not reach the brain, so neurological decline continues.
Actigen is developing the therapy with an international biologics partner and preparing trials in further markets.
