Its approach combines gene editing, stem cell programming and precise genetic control to engineer therapeutic cells. The company is developing cell platforms and manufacturing processes intended to support scalable production of medicines with tailored biological functions.

Founded in 2018 by Dr Tom Henley, Empyrean is based at Babraham Research Campus near Cambridge.
